Do you have room for just one?

Being a foster home can make the difference of life or death for many dogs in shelters.

It also makes the difference in allowing a shelter dog/boarded dog to get inisde a home to learn manners, get used to a house and people, even other dogs, cats, kids, and grown ups.

Many of our volunteers choose to be a foster because its the way we are able to rescue the dogs we do.

You can donate your time, your love and your home instead of $$

WE NEED YOU!  WE are in need of 10+ new foster homes in order to pull dogs from boarding and get them ready for adoption.

Please help! Fill out an adoption application today

This poor girl in Covington needs our help - she being kept on a 4 foot chain, but until we have a foster home placement - we can not go and get her.

Can you help?

Welcome to Virginia Paws for Pits, the Shenandoah Valley's FIRST "Bully Breed" Rescue! We are a home based rescue that relies on foster homes to give these dogs the second chance they deserve. Please do not shop, adopt! If you can not adopt, then become a foster, if you can not foster volunteer, if you can not volunteer, then you could sponsor a dog and help us in our mission.

For available dogs, puppies, and applications hold your mouse over the Adoptable dogs/Applications header - a list of pages will appear.

Please take a look at the Courtsey Listings - as these dogs are often in danger of being PTS for lack of space at shelters that ask for our help.

We have been contacted by a family who have inherited these dogs and can not keep them. They are all being kept short term at the home of the deceased previous owner. They were inside pets and now are outside on chains because that is the only way they can care for them.

They will all end up in a shelter, and the local shelter does not adopt out pitties so they will all end up dead!!
Please fill out foster applications, or email us today if you can help.
This is Arby, Duchess, Glacier, Redman and Sweetness.

Featured Adopt~a~Bull

Remmie - Possible Dutch Shepard - In Boarding needs foster/adopter ASAP!!

Remmie was pulled from our local shelter to avoid euthanasia when they filled up. She is young and FULL of herself.  She likes to be held like a baby and loves attention. We think she is a german sheppard pitty mix and she is around 18 months old. She needs a foster ASAP! Remmie does very well with female dogs, not so much with males. She loves people and is great with kids of all ages.  Can you provide Remmie a forever home or foster home?  She hopes so!

Our Friends at Fluvanna Pit Stop have AWESOME "Bully Walks" scheduled throughout the year.

They happen in various locations around Virginia.  For more information about taking your dog on a Bully Walk

In loving memory and honor of "Fat Head" and "Legion" I am on a mission to make sure that beautiful dogs like these get the second chance they deserve!

My name is Page Hearn and I am the President/Founder of Virginia Paws for Pits, we specialize in Bully Breed Rescue. Paws for Pits is a website dedicated to promoting positive information and educating the public on the true nature of these dogs. I post animals all across the United States who are in need of foster or forever homes. My dream is to have a non profit sanctuary for these amazing creatures up and running within the next five years. We are a 501c3 non profit organization, please help us in our mission by fostering, adopting, sponsoring or volunteering with your rescue efforts.

We are located in the Shenandoah Valley in Augusta County Virginia, and strive to save dogs from surrounding shelters as well as abused, and or neglected dogs.

IF YOU NEED HELP RE-HOMING YOUR DOG PLEASE CONTACT US VIA EMAIL AND BE SURE TO INCLUDE SEVERAL PICTURES AND A BIOGRAPHY ABOUT YOUR PET SO THAT WE CAN POST ACCURATE INFORMATION.

We DO NOT accept owner surrenders except under extreme circumstances. Virginia Paws for Pits reserves the right to take back custody of any animal placed into a foster home or adopted through our rescue organization if deemed in the best interest of the animal by members of the board.

Please be patient with us, we are a very small group of volunteers and we are doing the best we can to keep up with the volume of help requests we receive daily.
